As proud cat owners ourselves, we know that three problems come with the territory — hairballs, scratches, and worse, cat pee.
Cat pee can be one of the toughest stains and odors to remove. Underneath their poised appearances, our cats are fountains of uric acid and nitrogen. This combination is an olfactory killer for us and especially for our guests.
If your cat has urinated on your carpet, you are in for a world of trouble.
But worry not! With the OdorPet Concentrate Stain and Odor Remover Carpet Shampoo, carpet cleaning is a breeze!
Stick around to learn more about how to use our carpet cleaning solution for maximum results!
Step 1 Gather the Right Cleaning Materials
To properly rid your carpet of the smell of cat pee, gather the following:
- A pet spray carpet cleaner (like the OdorPet Concentrate Stain and Odor Remover Carpet Shampoo)
- Paper towels
- A couple of dry rags or pieces of cloth (must be absorbent)
Step 2 Find the Source of the Smell
If your carpet is white, this step should be easy. On the other hand, tracking down the source of the smell can be challenging if your carpet is dark.
It is important to find where the smell is coming from. The problem with cat pee is that it sticks to carpets and cloth quickly. As time passes, it quickly sets. The setting of the smell becomes near permanent if the weather is warm.
In short, track down the scent like the cat’s worst enemy (dogs), and do it quickly.
Step 3 Blot the Area with Cold Water
Once you have located the source of the smell, blot the area with cold water. Why not use hot or warm water? Introduce heat to the stain, and cat pee will be harder to remove.
To blot the stain, apply cold water using paper towels. Paper towels are ideal since they are absorbent. If you have no paper towels, you can use a dry, absorbent cloth.
Again, blot! Do not rub! This causes your carpet to absorb the pee!
Step 4 Spray Some OdorPet Concentrate Stain and Odor Remover Carpet Shampoo
Many sources provide DYI solutions, but they do not work as well in breaking down the odor and leaving the carpet smelling good.
OdorPet’s pet spray carpet cleaner does the following better than warm water and vinegar together:
- It helps remove the stain.
- It kills any lingering microbes in cat pee that lead to the smell.
- It cancels out the smell of cat pee.
With our Carpet Cleaning Shampoo, all you have to do is blot, spray, and repeat!
